Our History

The Market at Little River continues a long tradition of local grocers serving the heart of our community. For generations, this little store has been a gathering place — a spot to catch up with neighbors, grab the essentials, and feel at home.

Our chapter began in December 2025, when John and Jennifer (JD) returned to Little River after years working in IT and Cybersecurity in Kansas City. Life in the city was fast, demanding, and full of long days behind screens. We found ourselves craving something different — a slower pace, a chance to reconnect with our roots, and an opportunity to contribute to the community that shaped us.

During a visit home, we learned the store would soon be up for sale. What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into something bigger. Before we knew it, the keys were in our hands, and we were stepping into a new adventure as the next caretakers of this beloved local market.

We’re honored to continue the story of The Market at Little River, and we’re excited to share more with you. In the coming months, we’ll be adding stories about previous owners, a timeline of the store’s history, and memories from the community that make this place so special.
