The Market Almanac - December Reflections & Looking Ahead
This December opened a brand‑new chapter for us — one we’re honored to share with a grocery store that has served Little River for more than a hundred years. John and I officially stepped into ownership of The Garden of Eden this month, and we’ve been soaking up every moment since. From early mornings to late‑night shelf resets, it’s been a joyful whirlwind of meeting you, learning the rhythms of the store, and dreaming about what’s ahead. Your warm welcome — and your support of our new name, The Market at Little River — has meant the world to us. We’re grateful for every conversation at the counter and every familiar face, and we look forward to many years of serving this community we’re proud to call home.
We’ve also begun bringing in new products we love — ones we think you’ll love just as much. Mateo’s Gourmet Salsa (a longtime favorite of ours), Alani Energy Drinks, cinnamon sticks, and bagels have all found their place on our shelves this month. And yes, we still have a few hot cocoa packages tucked in for those cozy winter evenings.
Alongside the new items in the store, we’ve introduced something we’re equally excited about: our brand‑new website and Instagram account, giving you more ways to stay connected with what’s happening at The Market at Little River. From product updates, flash sales, and behind‑the‑scenes moments, we can’t wait to share more of our story with you online.
If you’re still riding the holiday wave, we’ve marked down all remaining Christmas cards and candy to help keep the season going just a little longer.
And for a bit of extra fun, we’ve made up something fun: Blind Dates with Christmas Candy. These are inspired by the “blind date with a book” concept, these little bundles are sweet, seasonal surprises — mystery bags of holiday treats wrapped up with care. You won’t know exactly what you’re getting, but we promise each one is festive, cheerful, and a delight to unwrap.
As we look ahead to the new year, we’ve also been paying close attention to the rhythms of the store — when you stop in, what you need, and how we can serve you best. After a month of listening, watching, and learning, we’re making a small but meaningful change to our schedule.
New Store Hours Beginning January 1st
Sundays: 11am–3pm (Timing it just right for pre‑game pizza and last‑minute snack runs before the Chiefs play!)
Monday–Thursday: 6am–7pm
Fridays & Saturdays: 6am–8pm
Whether you’re grabbing coffee before your day on the farm, picking up dinner ingredients on your way home, or simply stopping by to say hello, we’ll be here — lights on, doors open, and happy to see you.
As we wrap up this first edition of The Market Almanac, we just want to say how grateful we are to be stepping into this new chapter with all of you. This little store has been part of Little River’s story for more than a century, and it’s an honor to help carry it forward. Thank you for the conversations at the counter, the encouragement, the ideas, and the simple joy of seeing familiar faces walk through the door. We’re excited for the year ahead — for the new products, the early mornings, the shared stories, and all the small moments that make this place feel like home. Here’s to a bright beginning and many more chapters to come at The Market at Little River.
